Travelling to exotic countries can expose you to pathogens your body lacks protection against — we call this protection “immunity”, hence the word “immunisations”. Without it you may be vulnerable to infection and disease, such as Hepatitis A or Yellow Fever.

How do travel vaccines work?
We inject a solution that mimics the invading pathogen. This triggers your immune system to create antibodies designed to fight that infection.
So if you ever encounter that bacteria or virus in the future, your defence system will destroy it before it can harm you.
Ideally at least 21 days before you travel — sometimes more, as with the Rabies vaccine — so your body has time to produce all the antibodies needed for maximum protection.
